Simon Scott

Partner - Solicitor TEP

Simon is a Partner in the firm and has been with MCP since 1989. Obtaining an Honours Degree in Physics along the way, he qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1990 and then in 1995 as a Solicitor, becoming a Partner in the firm in that year. Subsequently he studied for and obtained a Diploma in Trust and Estates Law from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is also a registered Trust and Estates Practitioner.

Simon has many years of experience in preparing both simple and complex Wills and Powers of Attorney, and he acts in varied and complex estate administration work.  However, his main specialism is in Court of Protection work. He is routinely appointed as Attorney or Deputy to manage clients’ financial affairs and indeed he is one of the select band of Panel Deputies (fewer than 70 across the entire country) appointed by Judges of the Court of Protection. He is also a Panel Guardian for the purposes of the Guardianship (Missing Persons) Act 2017.  For many years, he led the firm’s Will Aid Campaign which raised approaching £40,000 for charities including Age UK, Save The Children, Action Aid and British Red Cross.

He is the Solicitors Regulation Authority Compliance Officer for Financial Affairs for the firm.

Away from work and for very many years Simon has also been supporting his local community.  He has been a School Governor, Chair of School Governors, he remains the very long-standing Chairman of the Social Club in the village where he lives, and (with every sympathy for members of the clergy and congregation) organist at the village church.  He also enjoys long distance walks (in his youth he climbed Mont Blanc) and long distance cycling with his family and friends.
