Crime and Prison Law

MCP has one of the largest and well regarded Criminal Law Teams in East Anglia. Our team of over 10 lawyers includes Solicitors, Higher Court Advocates and Accredited Police Station Representatives. We provide a comprehensive 24 hours a day, 365 days a year service at the Police Station and also attendance at Youth, Magistrates and Crown Court representation throughout the country.

We have 7 members of our team who may work on your matter. Partners and Heads of Department are supervised by Sarah Adlam and others who work on your matter will be supervised by Alison Muir who is the Head of the Crime and Prison Law department.

We are nationally recognised and listed  in The Legal 500, the leading guide to the top law firms, as a top tier criminal department in the region in both general crime and fraud for having a “one of the finest criminal frims in East Anglia, its service is always excellent”, and for "consistently offering nothing short of outstanding service to every client it represents". The team is led by Alison Muir who has been noted in the Legal 500 as “a first rate advocate" with "impeccable tactical instincts”. The team is also regularly recommended in Chambers and Partners and the Good Lawyer Guide for “providing an excellent service to privately funded and legally aided clients”.

We are first and foremost Criminal Defence specialists. Over the past few years we have helped clients in major high profile cases from serial murder, historical sexual offences, multi-million pound fraud and major drug importation. We regularly assist clients in relation to motoring offences. Whatever the nature of the case, and however large or small, our clients can be sure that they have an experienced team to fight their corner.

We are also one of the few firms whose legal clerks attend the Crown Court thereby giving a comprehensive service and the highest level of client care.  We have a large contract with the Legal Aid Agency to undertake legally aided defence work and we also represent clients who are privately funded.
