Success for MCP's Criminal Law Department!

The MCP Criminal Law team have several reasons to celebrate at the moment!

MCP’s quality and experience leads to a new Crime Contracts

MCP is very pleased to report that its expert Criminal Law team have been granted government contracts to continue and expand their regional defence work at police stations, Magistrates Courts and the Crown Court.

Until recently over 1700 law firms were entitled to provide duty solicitor defence work at the police station and the Magistrates Court, but following a recent procurement process carried out by the Ministry of Justice this figure has been significantly reduced to just 527 separate contracts to cover England and Wales.

This Process involved close scrutiny of each firms practice, policies and procedures including information on the quality and experience of the staff in the Criminal Law Team and in the Firm as a whole.

On 15th October the MCP team were delighted to learn that they were among just a handful of firms who had been granted Contracts in both areas they had applied for, namely Kings Lynn and West Norfolk and also Cambridgeshire. The new Contracts will see a significant increase in workload and will commence on 1st April 2016. All the team are looking forward to continuing the legal work which most of the team has been doing for many years at the very highest level.
