Will Aid

This year some of our solicitors are again participating in Will Aid, which takes place in November of each year. Will Aid is a scheme designed to raise much needed funds for nine of the country’s best loved charities including British Red Cross, Save the Children, Sight Savers and a number of others.

The scheme operates by our solicitors donating their time to support the Will Aid charities. Under the arrangement, then instead of paying us a fee for writing your basic Will(s) your are invited to make a donation to the Will Aid charities, suggested minimum donations are £75 for a single Will or £110 for a pair of mirror Wills.

We would ask you to bear in mind two important things if you wish us to prepare Wills under the Will Aid scheme:-

  • 1. Numbers are limited and demand is likely to considerably outstrip supply! Please make any enquiries as soon as possible and by the end of October 2010 at the latest.
  • 2. The scheme applies only to the preparation of relatively straight forward Wills: we would wish to make a charge if we are requested, in the course of the Wills being prepared, to carry out additional work such as making amendments to deeds, giving detailed tax advice etc. Payment for any such additional work would be due to ourselves rather than the Will Aid charity.

Last year, Will Aid raised over £1.25 million for the chosen charities, and we are committed to doing our bit to try and get that figure still higher.
