MCP Peterborough Solicitor Michael Ruck has been appointed a Higher Court Advocate for Criminal Proceedings.
This extra qualification means that Michael can now represent clients in the Crown Court, including jury trials, the Court of Appeal and Higher Courts.
There are only three other Higher Court Advocates in Peterborough and one of the others, Martin Newton, also works at MCP.
Michael retains the current status of Duty Solicitor, which means he is often the first contact at the Police Station, but can now also see the case through to the end without having to refer it to a barrister. This will provide clients with greater continuity and level of service.
It has taken many years of hard work for Michael to reach this point. He took a Law and Criminology degree and then went on to take his Legal Practice course. He had 4 1/2 years of post qualification experience in criminal work before approaching this new level, which involved courses, assessments and a lengthy portfolio of experience.
Michael is now looking forward to helping clients in Peterborough and offering them full service from Police Station through to any level of Court.
