The Thetford branch of Metcalfe Copeman & Pettefar Solicitors has welcomed a new member to their team - Portuguese lawyer Paula Fernandes.

Paula is a Portuguese legal consultant who did her training in Lisbon. She is now working at MCP Solicitors due to a partnership with prominent Portuguese law firm Almeida e Paiva & Associados.

Paula's role at MCP Solicitors is to provide legal assistance to the vast Portuguese community in and around Thetford, both regarding Portuguese law and helping to guide them through the English legal process. She works alongside English lawyers dealing with all aspects of law such as Personal Injury, Divorce, Employment and Property.

Additionally, Paula will be advising English clients on different aspects of Portuguese law, particularly property purchase and tax consequences of property ownership in Portugal.

Paula is hoping that her work with the Portuguese speaking population of Thetford and East Anglia will help further integration and ensure that those who need to access legal services are not at a disadvantage.

Paula is the third Portuguese lawyer to work with MCP Solicitors, following Ana Soares and Claudia Pedro, who returned to Portugal to continue their legal careers.
